Memes in a Digital World: Reconciling with a Conceptual Troublemaker

This paper re‐examines the concept of “meme” in the context of digital culture. Defined as cultural units that spread from person to person, memes were debated long before the digital era. Yet the Internet turned the spread of memes into a highly visible practice, and the term has become an integral part of the netizen vernacular. After evaluating the promises and pitfalls of memes for understanding digital culture, I address the problem of defining memes by charting a communication‐oriented typology of 3 memetic dimensions: content, form, and stance. To illustrate the utility of the typology, I apply it to analyze the video meme “Leave Britney Alone.” Finally, I chart possible paths for further meme‐oriented analysis of digital content.     

Mobilizing Company Members' Full Innovative Potential

Most of the literature on innovation management highlights the fundamental role played by people in the innovation process and the need to fully develop the creative and innovative potential of organizations' members. This article offers the result of extensive research carried out among some of the most innovative companies in the Basque Country, a highly innovative region located in the north of Spain. It draws interesting conclusions about how these innovative companies combine strong leadership, human resource practices, and an organizational culture that enhances innovation capabilities among the company's employees. More specifically, it answers questions such as the following: Are human resources policies, leadership, and innovation culture implemented equally in Basque innovative companies? Do companies make the same effort in deploying these elements or routines and practices related to them? Can we see a pattern in the use of these elements among innovative firms? © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.     

Unpacking the effect of IT capability on the performance of export-focused SMEs: a report from China

Abstract.  Export-focused small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in China face a number of barriers to success, two primary ones being the liability of foreignness and resource scarcity. In order to transcend these challenges and be able to survive/prosper in the hypercompetitive international market, where players include large resourceful multinational organizations with experience in varied national contexts, these firms need to develop different organizational capabilities. In this paper, we specifically examine the role of a key organizational capability – information technology (IT) capability – and its different dimensions, in determining performance of export-focused SMEs in China. Our study reveals that IT capability has a positive impact on such firms' performance. This finding indicates the need for their owners/managers to invest in IT capability. Further, the study also highlights specific sub-dimensions of IT capability that export-focused Chinese SMEs should (or should not) develop, so as to derive maximum performance-related gains for the minimum amount spent on IT.     

中国大学校园研究现状述评

本文针对目前中国大学校园建设实践中存在的问题，分别考察了高等教育界和建筑与城市规划界对大掌校园的研究现状，提出应该打破高等教育和建筑城市规划之间的学科壁垒，站在跨学科的视角上研究大学校园。     

基于影视剧《长安十二时辰》管窥盛唐男装

《长安十二时辰》是一部唐代背景古装剧,其男装服饰设计基于历史,可为戏服研究所借鉴。文章基于《长安十二时辰》影视、小说及相关文史资料,运用图像学原理,对该剧的影视男装进行探析。研究认为:《长安十二时辰》中的男装设计可圈可点,无论是款式、色彩还是图案甚至服饰搭配都较为严格遵循唐代服饰制度,整体上符合唐代服饰特点;《长安十二时辰》中的部分服饰细节上仍有错误,如李必冠帽的使用上,但瑕不掩瑜;《长安十二时辰》中胡服的设计和使用在颜色和图案乃至穿用人群上都较为灵活,表现了唐代文化的兼容并蓄。     

桥梁美学2020度年研究进展

本文通过梳理过去一年国内外桥梁美学的发展状况,从桥梁美学思想与理论,桥梁美学设计方法与理论,桥梁景观设计与改造,桥梁规划设计,桥梁历史文化设计与研究,新技术在桥梁美学设计中的应用,桥梁美学设计应用实践等方面阐述了桥梁美学的发展成就;对将来的研究热点和发展方向进行了简要预测;提出了建议和观点,希望对桥梁美学理论和设计实践有所裨益。     

试论国企思想政治工作与企业文化建设的融合

思想政治工作的高效开展对坚定党对企业的领导地位起到关键作用,能够充分发挥基层党支部政治优势和领导作用,推动企业科学发展。企业文化是企业管理理念和发展思想的直观呈现,营造积极的企业发展环境。两者间的练习较为紧密,两者的科学融合对企业发展起到有效的推动作用。通过对两者的关系进行详细阐述,分析融合工作开展的重要作用,探讨科学的融合工作开展策略,建设完善的融合工作体系,推动融合工作效果的提升,为企业发展提供有效支持。     

基于有限元分析的减速机箱体造型设计

为解决减速机箱体相似度大、厂家品牌识别度低的问题,提出将把箱体技术要求、企业文化内涵和中国传统文化等融合在减速机箱体外观的设计理念中。将有限元分析方法引入传统的减速机箱体造型设计流程,运用Creo2.0软件进行三维设计并建模;用Ansys Workbench软件对设计模型进行有限元分析;提出了造型与结构一体化的设计方法,通过此方法达到提高各减速机厂家品牌识别度的目的,从而提高产品的竞争力,增强产品造型的创新性,提高造型设计效率。     

诚:进德修业之本

诚在中国传统美德中占有重要地位,被尊为“进德修业之本”、“立人之道”和“立政之本”。诚也是当代大学生就有的基本德性,诚德修养的水平直接影响到大学生的立身做人、求知求学与创业成才。要提高大学生诚德修养的水平,必须培养大学生对诚德的信念,加强教育引导,净化社会道德风气。
